Depression

How to recognise Depression? Depression is more than feeling like you have a case of “the blues”. The experience of depression often includes having long periods of time experiencing extreme sadness that will just not budge. It can also be where you get very angry or frustrated all too quickly, and/or where you have no interest in, or enjoyment from, doing the things that used to bring you pleasure. Small challenges in life can suddenly taken on a monstrous size. You may also feel empty, distracted, irritable, and distant from those around you and could have problems with sleep, either getting too little or too much sleep.

What is it and how do I deal with it? Depression is a condition that impacts on your mental health by affecting how you think, feel and behave and also your energy levels. It can vary widely in its severity and how much it impacts on your life and important relationships. Getting support to deal with depression is important, as there are many ways to help you manage the condition.

If you think you have depression, speak to your GP or another mental health professional . They will be able to advise you on a number of treatment options, whether that is medication or a talking therapy.
